After completing last week’s assignment, we started to work on our final project, a video piece.
This is a group project, and we almost started brainstorming right after class. Briefly we discussed the pros and cons on the three options, finally, we decided the best way to tell a story with flexibility is to do documentary.
Both Jaclyn and I think Time SQ is the quintessential intersection of NYC, not to mention the characters, such as street vendors and costume performance people and their stories behind the scene you can find within the neighborhood. But then, given the controversy that tips are optional and stories you keep hearing about these costume people can get aggravated sometimes, Gabe and Boram mentioned Washington SQ would be a better alternative, given that there is less tourist-oriented, a more friendly atmosphere, and there are tons people and stories we can explore.
We will be introducing the surrounding a bit, maybe start with a establish shot with the arc, the fountain, the famous dog park, the equally famous pigeons, the chess-playing people, and so on.
We still need time to write script, to produce questions, and more detailed order of shot, and most of all, the scope of the video. And that’s what’s coming up next.
